Hi
I got my PR visa in FSW category sometimes back from CHC New Delhi. I got it for me, my spouse and children. It is valid for one year.
Now, I want to go alone initially to search for a job. In that case there is chance that visa of my spouse and children will expire because they are still in India. In such case, how can I get them in Canada to join me? Any way out there?

Thanks for your help.

If you are the principal applicant, you can enter Canada by yourself and the rest of your family can join you later , before any of their visas expire. If visas expire you will have to apply all over again.

They will have to land in Canada before the visas expire - can be with you or after you. They can "land" with you and return to India while you job hunt.

Go to canada alone. search job, home n settle. call wife n children after some time... pls ensure they reach canada before expiry.

Other suggestion: why u not taking your wife with you.. she too can find some job there in her field. may be she can get job first, u later. moreover u will have some psychological & emotional support in her presence. If you have ample funds you can try this.

Does that mean end of road if I fail to bring spouse and children with in 1 year allotted time? Or there is workaround.

The work around is to apply for their VISA again, this time in family class though.. Sorry Bro, but that's the way it is .. they have to land before expiry of their visa..

I would advise that you bring them along with you. Not only would you ahve emotional support, but your wife can also look for a job. Do not take chances with the landing dates. Get that step sorted out when you have a chance. They can always go back once they come to Canada after they get their PR card.

Dear jsang

You can come with your family or they can join you later.....But please stick to the 1 year limit of the PR. I guess you can go alone and get the PR and SIN and get settled. And then you can call your family. But the dates are important. Even if they come for 1 day and then leave, but they should come there within 1 year...
Cheers

Dear katoky,

Looking at replies of qoraz and other senior members, the PR card form is filled at POE but the officer and then it gets mailed to the given address in 3-6 weeks. First time it gets mailed to your address. But if you miss that, then it has to be collected from nearest CIC office...

I guess this link will help: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Permanent_Resident_Card-Canada
