Go from worker to tourist without leaving Canada?

Hi there, my two year Canadian Experience Work Visa is going to expire in a couple of months and I'd like to stay as a tourist for a further six months as per the standard tourist visa length for an Australian.

Is it possible to do this without having to leave the country and come back? My current visa states on it that I have to leave the country on the expiry date.

I found similar posts on here asking the same question but they're all over a few years old.
