Give up points for ECA

Dear Friends,

I just got my PNP, which I think added sufficient points for my Express Entry. I had my secondary education and bachelor degree overseas and got a post graduate diploma in Canada. I am wondering if it is possible to give up the points for ECA since it is quite costly and time consuming.

If I decide not to get ECA for my bachelor degree, what should I declare in the EOI system? I did try to do the express entry online, before submitting, there is no place for me to show that I do not have ECA. I do not want to overstate my points in the EE. What should I do? Just do not declare bachelor and secondary education? Embarrassed

Thank you very much!

Hi I don't know what field you work in or hope to work in. Depending on your NOC, some of them say that a certain level of 'Education' is required (Eg in my field I will need a Bachelors Degree and a Chartered Accounting designation). I have included both the Bachelors Degree which I got an ECA for (which gives me CRS points), and my CA designations in my country and Canada which don't.

Not including your Bachelors degree and post graduate diploma would potentially render you liable to the charge that an immigration officer could say well 'this person does not have the necessary skills/qualifications' to work in that field.

I'm not telling you what to do but if I were you I would get an ECA and be honest in my application.
