Hi all,

I applied for B.Tech in Management program after completing my Engineering in India. So the bank loan was not approved becoz they said i am applying for second bachelors degree which is not worth.

I paid first sem fees and GIC alone.. Not other fianancial support i have. Is this ok or i need to show more financial proof.

I applying in a designated college under genera category. Not SPP.. I have 6yrs gap..

So pls tell whether GIC alone is enough or i need more?

Hi PaulDJ,

From what I understand about the process for student visa to Canada, when you apply under general category you wil need to provide whatever documents you can (told by my consultant) so that means you will need to provide additional documents to show funds. I suppose GIC and Semester fee receipt might not cut it.

I could be wrong, find a good consultant and they should be able to guide you properly.

On the other side you mentioned that you have 6 year gap, where you working during that period?
And what engineering program did you complete in India and why don't you go for Masters instead of Bachelors?

Hi Arun,

I finished B.E Mechanical Engineering in 2009. After that i worked until Sep 2013. In which two years i worked in Saudi Arabia. After 2013 i didn't join any job. Instead i applied FSW and waited for 1 year and package returned bacoz quota has been filled. Then soon i applied PR under Express entry and the points were less. So now applied for a college in last minute and got admission also. Since my gap is long i can't apply under SPP category. So consultant told me to apply under general category. He told that i need to pay first semester fees and GIC alone. Becoz that is mandatory. If we show more documents means they'll smell more issues and reject us it seems.

What is your idea??

People have had 10+ years gap and applied under SPP, who told you you cant apply because of gap?
I know you can for sure...as long as your college falls under SPP category...also, approval rate in SPP is much higher, you're better off going for a PG diploma in some college so you can use SPP route, if the more doccuments part is an issue
