I applied to sponsor my husband to Canada in Dec. 2007. We were in a sticky situation however, because we had gotten married only a few months after meeting each other. We got married December 4th of 2006, and I accepted a teaching position to teach in South Korea, and left Canada on December 11th of 2006. That's right, only a week after we got married I left. He remained in Canada because he had just finished his study visa, and was able to try to find work for a period of 3 months. We hoped that he would be able to find a job, our application would be in process, and I would be home in December of 2007. But, you know what they say about the best laid plans. He didn't find a job in his field, and therefore had to leave for Nigeria. He went home in September of 2007, and then came to South Korea in November of 2007 to stay with me. We submitted our application in December of 2007. Now, here's the issue: After looking on the website, we knew that the processing time for Nigeria was really long, we went through the Ghana office. We also thought that us being separated for almost a year (but luckily, he got here just two months shy of the year cut off), would actually work against us. However, in May of 2008, only 6 months after our initial application, the status on the website changed to: medicals recieved. There was no interview!!!!! Considering our circumstances, and that he is a Nigerian citizen, we thought for sure he would have to fly back to Ghana for the interview. Does this mean that our application is aprooved? Isn't the interview process the point when they give you the oppportunity to prove whether or not your relationship is legitimate? Does this mean that because he hasn't been interviewed and they are already on to our medical that we are definitely aprooved? Is it just a matter of waiting now?

Nope, all it means is that the medical was received (assuming you followed instructions and the medical receipt was sent with the application) The only sure thing that there will be no interview, is when he receives his passport request.
