Hey everyone. So my girlfriend will be entering Canada in May on a 1 year open work permit with intention to live with me during that time. We will be driving across the border with her vehicle and some personal effects like clothes, etc. but will be shipping some of her household goods at a later date by U-Haul Ubox. What do we need to do in order to import her items? I've been directed to the form B4 at the CBSA website, but it doesn't look like any of the 4 types of importer applies to her (former resident, beneficiary, seasonal resident, settler)

Anybody have any suggestions?

I too am facing a similar situation. Would be entering canada through Detroit border for fall 2012 MBA program with a US car. Regarding car, I did some research and found that students can take it with the undertaking that they would bring it back to US after the student permit expires. So it would not be a permanent import and would not come under RIC (Registrar of imported vehicles) act and hence not supposed to pay duties etc. I guess something similar should apply to domestic stuff too especially for those entering with student permit..
hope it helps..
