Hey guys,
I’m thinking of doing a 2 years diploma in Animation from Fanshawe College, and hopefully obtain a PGWP and work in an animation studio.
My question is what are the chances then of getting a PR working as an animator? Someone told me that artists don’t easily get pr as their jobs are not mainstream I guess. Would appreciate any help.

Animation is a small field. The programs are often very competitive. It will really depend on the demand for animators and whether the employers like your work. Would suggest trying to contact some people in the field to get a better understanding about the job market in Canada and opinions on the job market in the next 5 years.

No one can give you a chance / probability.

Animation is a skilled occupation. So assuming that you are able to get at least one year of full time paid work experience, you would qualify to apply for PR under the CEC or FSW program (both through Express Entry). The Express Entry program is a points-based system so whether you are selected out of the pool of applicants will depend on how many points you have and what the draw cut off score are at the time you apply.

It's possible you may also qualify to apply for PR through the PNP program of the province where you will be living and working after you finish school (or maybe not). You can research those programs as well.

One more comment.. I do agree that animation is a competitive field. If you want to have the best chance of securing a job in the field in Canada, I would strongly recommend you try to get into the Sheridan College program (vs. Fanshawe). Sheridan is extremely highly regarded.
