Hi friends,
I have to apply for Canada immigration for which I need police clearance certificate from India and USA.
My question is regarding getting PCC from India. There are 2 methods if I am in USA
1. Getting PCC through Indian consulate in USA
2. Apply to local police station in India through Parents/Friends.

So my question is if I am in USA right now, then will there be any issue with Canadian embassy if I get the PCC through 2nd method?

Thanks in advance!

getting thru' a consulate for police clearance should not be an issue; this is the accepted way for expatriat Indians to get PCC;
however, your passport will get stamped with PCC;

I think 1st method is better and you get clearance in a single document regardless of your residence in India. There will not be any problem with 2nd even though I heard the process may be tedious. Also if you get a police certificate it is more local like a certificate given by police in their jurisdiction and will not include other cities/places where you stayed and may include background check report from state agencies.

Getting Police clearance from India

Dear immigration community members
I am Bangladeshi Citizen and studied my undergrad in India during 1996-1999. After that, I never been visited India. Rightnow, I am in US. I asked to Indian consulate general in Chicago about the process. They suggest me to make from the same state where I studied. Now, its difficult for me to go there and make the clearance. My questions are

1) Its been more than 11 years since I visited India. Do I still need to show PCC from India for processing skilled worker class PR?

2) Can I request to my parents to go to local police agency to make PCC for me?

Your help and suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks
