me and my girlfriend (applying for tourist) we're planning to get married here in canada..

her uncle is living here for 7 years and willing to sponsor her visit..

questions:
1. if she's asked for her intensions visiting here, what would be the best answer?
2. if she answered 'just to visit my uncle, cousins' and not telling that im here, would that affect our 'soon marriage'?

need some help pls..

try to get appointment for marriage ceremony and registration and use it as a proof. sometimes it's better to tell them the truth.
just be aware that it can take up to 8 weeks for you to get a marriage certificate after getting married in Canada.
good luck!

what problems we might encounter if she don't tell the truth?
cause it'll lower the chances of getting her visa..

anyways, thank you Suin..

the only problem can be - denial of entry to Canada, if they suspect that you are not truthful.

Are you a Canadian citizen? Why do you want to get married in Canada? Getting her visa would be the difficult part. She must show proof that she can do the travel (enough funds in her name even if she can get a statement of undertaking form her uncle in Canada). She also must have sufficient ties to her home country- stable job, property, family etc. if you are a citizen and you want to get married in Canada and sponsor her maybe she can explore dual intent (but I am not familiar with it).

i'm a permanent resident here..

no problem about our relationship, we've been together for 5years in philippines, if it's about proof, we all have our pictures, etc. etc..

no worries about the requirements like, bank statements/certificate (in her name), etc. etc..
she had it all prepared, by the help of her father who's also working abroad.. so money won't be a problem..

i know i read it somewhere before, 'dual intent', that's why i want to make sure if everything will be okay..

please help me..

thanks again, Suin and job_seeker

Here is my experience: I'm Canadian and my boyfriend is from Bolivia. we both live here in Bolivia together. we are getting married in Canada in January.

He got issued a tourist visa and we were honest about our plans for traveling. But we had to include A LOT of additional supporting documents showing that we were both coming back to Bolivia to continue work & studies here.

The problem about getting married with you as a permanent resident is that the immigration officer will think she is coming to Canada to marry you, then the stay on and continue to live in Canada.

They will only issue a tourist visa if they believe she will definitely leave after the visa expires and will not try to stay in Canada. You need lots of evidence of her plans to return to her home country.

Hi... I have a few questions & hoping someone will educate me & point me in the right direction pertaining this situation. I met a wonderful woman online and after a year of corresponding we wish to someday be as one here in canada, she is from the Phillipines. She wishes to come here so what is the best avenue in terms of visa, K1, TRV ? Is it easier if I went there? Any info regarding my queries would be helpful as I know little of the process, even if theres a Government link that will point me to info booklets obtainable from Gov. Offices... Thanks for ur anticipated input...

hello.
she will have to apply for TRV to enter Canada. that's the only visa she can get if she only plans to visit, not studying not working.

related to visitors visa (TRV) you need to check this link:

You can get married (if there are no impediments to getting married legally), and do a spousal sponsorship.

hi, im not saying you should lie or tell the truth but this was my situation. my sister is a citizen, i came to visit her in december 2007, met a friend of hers that i had been online with for 6 months, planned to meet him here, at the airport i told them im here to visit family, which was the truth... met my sisters friend on the 16th of December, went out for a few weeks, applied for a marriage certificate on the 4th of January 2007, got it right away at the license department in Edgemont, no wait. as long as youre both single and can legally marry...went shopping for a nice dress on saturday the 5th, got married on the 6th... i left the country on the 7th and it took a year to get my papers in order in my home country and was here in December 2008. as long as you can prove you knew each other be it through phone calls, emails or texting... which is all things we submitted. i personally had to leave but the lawyer we appointed said i didnt have to, i had kids and had to go sort things out with their dad and a house to settle etc... but as far as i know once you are married she can stay. and if she is going to visit her family then no one can prove otherwise.
