Hi,
I have been dating my partner for a year now and we would like to get married. He has attempted to enter NZ but has not managed to get a work visa as you need a job to get a visa and a visa to get a job. Also, my divorce went through 3 weeks ago.
I am now looking at moving to Canada to join him there as he has a stable job and would be able to sponsor me. I am a South African citizen and have a two year work permit in NZ. My children will not be accompanying me as my ex will not allow them to leave NZ permanently, but they would be allowed to come and visit me.
We are desperate to be together. Have known each for a long time but only started dating a year ago waiting for my divorce to go through. He came and visited me in NZ over Christmas for 6 weeks. He is not able to gain permanent residency in NZ without securing a job, which is impossible, we have sent his CV to over 300 companies, but no one is prepared to deal with immigration here.
I got advise from a Immigration Lawyer in Canada that I should come in with a visitor visa and if they ask me I must tell them that I am coming in to get married, as Canada is a very open country.
Surely they will send me on the next plane out of there if I say I have come to get married.
Can anyone advise that has been in a similar position???
Many thanks.
Lindz
