Maybe, you can suggest a restaurant based on your experience for the above person to contact. That would be helpful.

Of course, it is better if you have a reference from somebody in Canada but it is not neccessary. Also, try to think outside of Toronto and vancouver.

Previously you could under pay a TFW by .15 per hour. So if I could hire a Canadian at $11/hr, I can hire a TFW at $10.85/hr. Not a lot, but it adds up over a year times the number of employees. You cannot do this any longer. This was one of the recent LMO changes.
Also some employers can abuse their TFW and the TFW accept it as the price to get into Canada. They don't give breaks, make them work extra hours, offer accomodation and then don't provide it, etc. You might think this is rare. I would like to think this is rare too, but I think it's more common than we could care to believe. Almost all the nannies I've conversed with on this site have been treated horribly by their employer who threaten them to work off the clock without pay or "I'll deport you!"
Employers also were getting tax benefits for TFW. I'm not sure if this is still the case. Anyway, there are "benefits" for the employers or else they wouldn't do this at all.
