Hi,

I am a Canadian PR since more than a year, originally from India and my fiancee is in India. I wanted to know the best and quickest way to get her to Canada as I am looking to get married back in India end of this year or start of next year. I understand that the spousal sponsorship takes time so wanted to get her sooner and was evaluating visitor visa to Canada for my fiancéé.

However, have the below queries:
1. In the invitation letter for applying a visitor VISA for her, should I mention her as just a friend or should i mention girlfriend/fiancee? She is employed and we can get a letter from her employer mentioning her return.

2. She also has a cousin who is a Canadian citizen, so would it be better if they provide an invitation letter for Visitor VISA application instead of me or would it be better if I invite as later we have to apply spousal sponsorship too?

3. If in case she gets a visitor VISA, can she travel to Canada on that VISA after she is married too? Wouldn't marriage have any impact on her visitor VISA to Canada which was granted to her before marriage?

4. Also, in case she gets a visitor VISA, would it be a good idea for her to have 1 trip to Canada before marriage and then later 2nd trip after marriage so as to ease the sponsorship process later, post marriage we could then apply for spousal sponsorship (either Inland or Outland)?

5. Is Air ticket and travel itinerary absolutely required for applying a visitor visa for her?

Thanks!

1. Tell the truth, that she is your fiance (if you are engaged), your betrothed and your soulmate and will have so many babies that you may be able to raise your own cricket team with her (pun intended). Point is, DO NOT LIE. Getting Caught = Misrepresentation = 5 years ban.

2. You can invite her, by telling, she is your fiancee and she is coming for vacation or to meet you, also you should mention that her accommodation, safety and expenses would completely your responsibility while she is in Canada.

3. Yes, she can, as long as the visa is valid.

4. This shall have no impact on processing time on spousal sponsorship.

5. Yes. To show that she intends to come back. If you have a concrete itinerary, buy a non-refundable ticket. Non-refundable tickets would look good on Visa application.

Like any other visitor she will need to prove she has strong ties to her home country and can afford to pay for all her travel and expenses while in Canada.
