You may need to go for tests at MTO. As you are moving to Alberta, you will be able to exchange a UK licence issued by the DVLA for a licence issued by Alberta Province if you produce a proof of at least 24 months of licensed driving experience. Unfortunately you have only 6 months.

Other than both parts of driving licence, would I need any other proof for driving experience?

England have signed a Reciprocal Licensing Agreement with Alberta. Persons originating from England can exchange their out-of-country driver’s licence for an Alberta driver's licence if they are lawfully entitled to be in Canada and have taken up residence in Alberta.

Drivers must meet the following requirements:

The driver must be at least 18 years of age. (If a applicant is under 18 years of age, consent for a minor, or proof of self-sufficiency or marriage, is required.)

The driver must present proof of legal presence and residency in Alberta by providing federal travel authorization documents such as employment authorization and record of landing.

The driver must provide proof of their date first licensed. (If the driver has been licensed for two or more years as a fully licensed driver in their country of origin, the Graduated Driver Licensing program (GDL) conditions do not apply.

The driver must meet all requirements for the class of licence being applied for in order to drive a motor vehicle.

The driver will be required to pass a vision screening test and disclose all medical conditions or physical disabilities that may affect their ability to safely drive a motor vehicle.

Just a pedantic note here from a grumpy Scotsman. "England" has not signed any such international agreement. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has, which includes the nations of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Sorry! I hate that my country is constantly forgotten and misrepresented. :)

Hello Wilson
I am from India. How would i be able to get a driving license in alberta? I have a license here for driving cars for the past six years and for two wheelers for the past ten years. Also it would be nice if you could guide me about the location which i should choose to live in calgary or edmonton as i am a mechanical engineer(diploma) with more than twelve years of experience. I also have an MBA(HR&Marketing) and i would be coming with my wife and two little kids.
