Getting a sin number

I went to apply for SIN number today and they told me to get a confirmation letter from the embassy.Does any one knows how can i get that?
i am student of carleton uni joining this fall for master program.

i also went to apply for sin today and i was told the same thing, my SP doesn't have anything written related to work on it. i need to get letter of enrollment from Uni first to apply for confirmation letter.

first u should get a letter from ur university which says that ur a full time student,,, then go to this link

in the equiry section select international student confirmation to off campus work, upoload ur letter from university,,, cic will email u the confirmation letter i got mine in 7 business days but i know people getting in upto a month,,, good luck

Where do you apply for SIN number ??? After landing or before landing?

i have applied for confirmation of work letter after getting my enrollment letter from university, now the question is how will CIC issue that letter ? i mean will they email it to me or send me through post ?
