Getting a Police Clearance Certificate from India while in Canada

Hello everyone! My first time posting here after a lot of years of lurking.

I have received my provincial nomination letter, and I am now looking to apply for a permanent residency. However, just like everyone else, I need to get a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). Just for some context, I currently live in Saskatchewan, I have already been approved for SINP - Student category, and I'm from India.

All my life, I have lived in the same part of the city (under the same police station's jurisdiction). I still have my relatives in India, who were able to get a PCC for me on my behalf from the local police station. A few questions:

1. Am I able to use the PCC that my relatives got for me from my local police station, as I have always only ever lived in that one city?

2. If not, I am going to be visiting India in a couple of weeks. Can I go to a Passport Seva Kendra there, get a PCC from there, bring it back with me to Canada and apply for PR from here?

3. If neither of the above, am I allowed to fly out to Toronto to go to Consulate General of India (embassy) and get an emergency PCC from there?

4. Lastly, if none of the above work, can I fly out to Vancouver and apply for a PCC in person at BLS International?

I would really prefer not handing in my passport as I may need to travel outside of Canada for work conferences at short notice and I'd really like to hang on to my passport at all times.

I would appreciate any help or insight, especially if you have been in the

No, the local police station PCC will NOT work. You need to have a PCC that covers all of India, and only a PSK or the Indian consulate can give you that.

You can get a PCC from the PSK in India or from the BLS office in Vancouver. You can't come to Toronto since you live in Saskatchewan and you're in the Vancouver jurisdiction.

Quick note - sometimes they are finicky about the dates on the PCC - if you get the PCC while you're in India, make sure it's only a day or so before you leave the country.

Ideally, you want to get the PCC from the BLS center in Vancouver. You don't have to fly there, you can do it by mail. They're usually quite efficient and take about 15 days to return the passport and PCC.

Thank you so much for your response, this helps a lot! I will attempt to get a PCC from India while I'm there. I'm hoping they don't keep my passport with them, I'd be really paranoid about them losing it and me not being able to come back without it haha
