Hi everyone,

I am currently studying engineering at a reputable university in Canada, and I have to graduate and then go to my home country to serve the military. I can go before I graduate, but something came up in my family, and I think I have to go after graduation. In this case I believe I can't get post graduate work permit as I will be going to another country after graduation right away.

So after 2 years in my home country, I want to come back to Canada and work here and immigrate.

Is Skilled worker immigration the best method for this? Or what is the best way to get a job in Canada from another country and get PR here?

I wasn't sure where to post this, so if it's not the right section, please feel free to move it.

Thanks so much.

Since you've lived here for a while you probably know that its very difficult to get a job while overseas...
not being a PR/citizen only makes the chances worse.

Skilled worker immigration might be an option, if your occupation falls in the "shortage list" at the time...note that there will be big changes to the FSW program next year... so as for now its difficult to predict what will happen or what the chances will be.

You could try other options though if in future you found it difficult to return to canada..why not austrailia, nz..etc.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of returning to Canada because I graduated from a Canadian university, and it would be easier than countries like Australia or others.
Is there a way I can enter Canada some way, and then find a job? Then apply for a PR? Or I just cant enter canada in the first place to look for a job?

I think my occupation won't be in a shortage list. It's chemical engineer or R&D scientist, or similar. So as of now (not accounting for the future change in FSW program), skilled worker immigration is not a good option? What other options are there for this situation?

Thanks very much.

There is no reason for an employer to go through a complicated process to hire someone who needs sponsorship while there are so many applicants already located inland who are already citizens/pr holders. unless you possess a very rare skill which is highly needed by the employer and not available in the country....

If you didn't find a possibility to apply for fsw under the new scheme (if your occupation is not on the list)...then don't limit yourself to canada...try other options, your canadian degree will be respected everywhere you go.
