Getting a driver's license!

I'm starting my Sponsorship paperwork. I really want to get my license and eventually a motorcycle license. Do I have to wait till my PR comes through? Would I be able to try for it now? I'd hate to get turned away for driving school. I just can't wait to get a Honda CBR!
