Get your Work Permit in the border.

Hi all.
I don't know how many know this. If you have your required documents to apply for work permit you can cross the border and when you enter you can show all the documents and get your work permit done on the spot. I'm not sure whether you need to pay $150 or not.

I went to US last month by that time my work permit was on progress, when I enter Canada I showed my LMO, my previous work permit and employer letter to the customs officer. They asked me whether I want the work permit immediately I said Yes!. They checked the status of my application and told me that it was already printed and couriered to me, as they said i received it in 2 days.

Before trying this call CIC and confirm it please and make sure you have both the visas Canada and the country you travel. I went thro Buffalo I had both US and Canada visa.

Well yeah it is easy if you have both visas... what to do if you do not have any?
As i posted already i was told that there is some corridor at the border where you practically do not leave Canada and can apply for WP there..

If you do not have any visa, You have no option you have to apply to CIC.

I don't know which corridor you mean, but customs officers can do your work permit with no cost I guess. It is very useful who have both the visas because you do not need to wait the 50-75 days which is really hard part right?. I sent my application to CIC for work permit in Sep 2011 and Canada Post guys couldn't track my package for some reason and I waited for 90 days to get the response from CIC. Those 90 days I don't even know whether my application reached CIC or not. I contacted CIC even they don't know whether they received it or not for certain point of time. But finally I got my work permit. I was extremely stressed those 90 days. And its not hard to get US visa so if you get that also, it would be really helpful to you.
