Get a work visa while in Canada on a Visitor visa and awaiting PRV processing

My wife and I have been married since January 11, 2012.

Since then she has applied for a Permanent Residence Visa , and as of April 27 2012 I was approved as a Sponsor and her PRV application has been sent to the Singapore Visa Office for processing .

Last year my wife was able to get a Temporary Residence Visa after I had been approved as a sponsor and came to Canada for six months.

She then returned to Laos and is waiting for her PRV to process.


If my wife comes to Canada again on a Temporary Resident Visa can she then apply for a work visa and get a job while her Permanent residence Visa is being processed at the Singapore Visa Office?

Yes - she can.

First she will have to find an employer who will offer her a job. That employer will then have to obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion - and as part of this process, prove the job was advertised and a Canadian couldn't be found to fill the role. Once the employer has an approved LMO, your wife can then apply for a work permit tied to that specific employer.
