Hi,

I'm Spanish post-doc researcher. Currently I'm in Canada and I have just been offer a job for several months.

As a post-doc and given that the job is a research position at the University, I belong to the Academic and students group of workers that do not need a LMO.

Do you know if I can go to an entry point and get the work permit immediately (as I did last year for a short term job)?

Besides the points of entry, are there other offices in the country where I can get a "fast" work permit?

I mean fast as getting the permit the very same day.

Thanks a lot!!

Port of entry is your only option - and it must be a land port of entry (not an airport).

Thanks a lot!

Is it necessary to conceal the fact that I was in the country and just left to get back in to get a work permit?

I mean, I won't carry any baggage with me while I'm applying for a 9 months work permit at the border. It's a bit awkward for the officer, isn't it?

Thanks!

immigration officers are familiar with this procedure which is called flag poling so no worries its not going to be awkward at all.
