Hello All,
Apologies if I am not posting this in the right place, but I was just looking for some general advice on what areas of the job market to concentrate on in regards to permanent residency prospects.
I have been working in Vancouver for the past eight months on a Working Holiday visa, and was now wanting to switch to a study visa. My background is in financial processing, but I was wanting to make a fresh start with something new (new country, new start). I have been looking through the CIC website, but still find it all a bit confusing, and some of the advice can be a bit too general. Would anyone know what type of professions are top of the list when it comes to what the Canadian government is looking for in its new residents?
I believe I can support myself in full-time education for two years at least, and was wanting to aim at a course/profession that would give me the best chance of gaining permanent residency status.
For example I was looking at a Masters in Library and Information Studies at UBC, but am unsure how much need Canada has for librarians, information specialists etc.
I would be interested in settling in Vancouver/British Columbia permanently. Does BC have a particular need in any sector that I couldmabe look at, in order to gain residency through the provincial nomination option.
Thanks in advance for any advice. And sorry if this looks like I want to be spoon-fed the info. I honestly don't mind doing the running in researching this - its just very confusing at times trying to absorb all the info from the different websites. I was just hoping someone could give some guidance.
