GCMS Notes Questions

Hi guys,

So I just got my first set of notes, and for the most part they are straight forward. It lists dates of when all my different paper work was received. It has each and every update from "Not started" to "in Progress" and "Passed" (for medicals) however I still have a few questions.

1) its 38 pages long, is that normal?

2) there are 2 typos... one on page 18 it says Incoming attachment Changed name Legally. Letter received on 2014/01/08. The typo is my last name. Not my new married legal name but my maiden name is spelled wrong does it matter? Also on page 4 it lists all my info and it includes my place of birth. It says New York for the city/town but I was not born in NYC I was only born in the state of NY not the city.

3) On page 6 my Eligibility was updated on 2014/05/02 it says "Conditional: Yes" "Status: Recommended Pass" Thats good right?! On page 28 it shows the Activity on my application for Eligibility it goes from "Review Required" (2014/04/10) to "recommend Interview" (04/10) to "recommend Pass" (05/02). Does this mean that the information the requested was enough and an interview is no longer needed?

4) I have looked up criminality and security checks but why are they not processed together? For Security it says "Not Started" but for criminality it says "In Progress" since 2014/03/04

5) In 2 locations it mentions LA. I can not remember 100% but I thought I requested NY if it needs to be sent somewhere for an interview...since I live in New York! Do you not always get your choice or did someone over there mis-type? Page 3 "RC Code ***" " Office name: Los Angeles" Then immediately below it says "Secondary office(s): 2" and lists Mississauga. Page 26 has a list of each time a part of the App was updated it says "secondary office added: Los Angeles" then a few setions up it says "Secondary Office removed" but does not say Los Angeles. I hope this doesn't mean it was transferred there. Those are the only mentions of LA.

6) On page 2 it says "Assignments " It says who is assigned to my app and who assigned them. It also has an assignment due date, 2014/06/01 which has passed, what does this due date mean?

7) Lastly, what does PPT stand for? It states received PPT, does that mean like passport or something? I know PPR means passport requested (which has not happened, but they got a copy of my new one with my legal name on it) Also what does TFR- Eligibility mean?

For how complicated CIC likes to make things, besides those questions the notes were straight forward! lol

PPT = Passport Validity Date, TFR - Transfer

4 - i would think security and criminality are different things. I would think it is like getting an FBI check and CIA clearance. One is for criminality, one is for national security. My guess would be they need to do some sort of security clearance for PR applicants.

5 - i don't believe NY is processing family sponsorship applications anymore. When i was searching on the NY visa office site, it did not mention PR applications anywhere. I am thinking LA is the only one in the US now, which is sucky for us east coasters! Since a majority of US applicant interviews are essentially waived, perhaps this won't be a big issue.

for number 4 these are two completely different background checks. These two things are usually what takes so long for the application to process. I have heard from another user that they don't normally do these at the same time, they do one and then the other. Sometimes it can take months. This is the bulk of processing the application when you're considering time. As you can see on yours.... your interview has been waived, your medical is passed, now they are waiting for the criminality results and after they receive them they will start the security check. Looks like after you pass those two you will probably get PPR.

Can I ask....I know that GCMS notes can take like 30 days for them to send to you. When you received them did they include any information dated after the date that you requested them? I received my SA on May 22 and I am through the Mexico office which is processing really quickly right now. I know it hasn't even been two weeks but I'm considering ordering them right away to see if they are recommending an interview, if they are maybe I can send more relationship info and pictures to try to avoid it. At the same time I am torn, it's only been 2 weeks so its possible that my file is only just arriving and no one has touched it yet. But I know that 30 days from now there will be information for sure. I'm torn about when I should do it.

In some cases the notes are gathered the day after you request them, with nothing from that date on. But my last set of notes, which I requested in April (April 10th), were a couple days late, so I emailed them and they sent them to me a couple hours later, dated to that days date (May 14th)! So I got pretty lucky, but I guess it really depends on how busy they are.

Yes some VOs are pretty backed up, but I'm going through Mexico and someone who applied a few weeks earlier than me this March 2014 has already received their passport request. So I'm thinking waiting a month might have me miss some opportunity to provide additional documents if I needed to. By then they may request an interview already.

I think security is the last thing done on your app. Well atleast in my husband's case it was. So good luck maybe you'll be gettingaanswers soon

He's computer illiterate, doesn't have a printer/scanner and wouldn't know how to use one if he went to the one place with public computers in a 2 hour radius. Actually getting a signed consent form isn't going to happen. But I copied all of my application before I sent it, so I do have a copy of the signed Use of a Representative Form that we sent in with the application.

However, toward the bottom you have to select which type of application it is for and there is no choice for outland app. It only has PR from in Canada, student, visitor, worker. Which should I select or is there another link I need to go to for outland?

You need the signed consent form, when I first applied for my notes I filled it in wrong and they sent it back and said I have 30 days or they will close my application for notes, I'm not aware of any other way around it

Although I think there is a way for people who don't have anyone living in Canada to request them but it costs a lot more money, perhaps someone more senior can advise on that..

The only way I know of is to have him sign the consent form. If you want you can print it off several and mail them to him and have him mail them all back signed, but tell him to leave the date blank. Then you have a legal copy of his signature and when you chose to order the notes you can fill in the date. I don;t think this will happen soon enough for you though. Its really just an option for future notes. For now is there anyway he can print it out? even f you save the document and email it to him he doesnt have to do anything but open it up and print it. Then sign it and if he has a camera on his smartphone he can take a picture and email it back to you. Thats what we did.

That's why I suggested mailing him forms and signing them all but not dating them. I am not privileged and can barely afford to put food on my table for just myself. The only reason I have a smartphone is because I could not work my current job without one. Its a requirement. You're not the only ones who struggle with finances and you're certainly not the only ones who have health concerns. You asked for suggestions and I gave every possible one I could think of to try and help you guys, I really do not need your pity party to be thrown here. A simple "thanks but that won't work for us" would have sufficed.
