GCKey vs IRCC Portal for Visitor Visa - Any Difference in Processing?

Hi everyone,

I recently submitted visitor visa (TRV) applications online for my parents. While reviewing their profiles, I noticed that right after submission the UCI and Biometrics fields still show blank, which I’ve read is quite common until IRCC links them, is that true for you folks too?

My main question is about the platform: Is there any difference between applying via GCKey vs the newer IRCC portal? For example:

• Does one system result in faster processing times?
• Is one preferred by IRCC (more up-to-date, fewer glitches)?
• Has anyone seen different outcomes or experiences depending on which login system they used?

I know both eventually end up in the same IRCC system, but I want to double-check with the community if there’s any advantage or drawback to using one versus the other.
