Hello everyone,

I am opening this thread to ask my question because I could not find one with discussion related to gap in work experience.

1. So, I have recently got into a confusion regarding my work experience. I have completed my bachelor's degree in July 2015. Then, I did not work in my home country. In a meantime I applied to student visa for Canada and got Visa for September intake 2018. While applying for student visa I mentioned 10 months of experience. Do I need to mention that detail in my work history? In addition, it's been over 3 years without job. Will this gap in job experience be an issue for me to apply in express entry?

2. I have completed my study in April 2020. However, I couldn't able to find job till July,2021. From July 2021 to till date working as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer. My organization mentioned title as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in my offer letter So what should I do? is this a major issue?

3. For these gaps what should I mention in the work history Unemployed or anything else?

Your work experience timeframe would start after your 1st degree. You should include the 10 months you previously declared. For any period that you were unemployed, say that your were unemployed right up to the point you started studying in Canada. after studying, work experience starts counting in 2020. Again, put unemployed for the timeframe you were not working up to when you got the job july 2021. Remember, NO GAPS, if you were not working just say so. Being unemployed does not affect your PR application. Having gaps in employment or personal history will delay your application.
