Hi,

I wish to apply for January 2014 intake at 3-4 canadian colleges for International marketing course.

I completed my last education in 2006 and working since then. However there are two small gaps during the last 6 years of employment history.

One gap is of around two months in 2010 and other gap is of around 4 months in 2012. The gap happened as I went ill just after 3.5 months of joining an events company and they asked me to resign as they were not ready for allowing a prolonged leave during probation. However, I have proper joining and leaving records for entire employment history.

Currently I am employed as Asst. Manager Marketing in a reputed company and should accumulate a work exp of 7-8 months by the time I apply for study visa.

Does the gap act negatively for getting study visa?

Please help me.

Does consulate check relieving letters too? I would need this info to plan my relieving from my current company.

@Prospect123 - Dude... Well, the verifying part depends on the VO... Still if you can convince them that you were really sick during the stated periods... It will be fine...

More over you are not applying for a skilled immg work permit nor PR... you are applying for a study permit... So as far as I know, the gap in work exp shouldnt be a problem untill it is for years and you did nothing just chilling at home...

However you can still say that you took some break from work or you were preparing for GRE r so... But again if you are mentioning about preparing for higher studies... They might think why you dint continue that time itself... you should be able to answer that... So think well before answering those questions.... ;)

ATB Bud... Dont worry, everything will go fine!!

Thanks,
Prathap

Thanks for your inputs prathapg86,

When I went to apply for US B1 Visa, they didn't do any background check, even when I produced all the documents. It's jaust that I wanted to be well prepared in case VO will be doing a ref check, then I can start contacting people from my previous organizations.

Thanks for your response bro :) God bless

Dot mention.. :) And again for B1 they dint check... Because you represented your company and you will have an invite letter from the client ... and can stay only till 3 months... So they wont do a indepth BG on work experience... but this is different... Anyways its good to have some options in mind, incase the questions abt break arise...

Thanks,
Prathap

Hello friends,

I am very confused abut study gap. I finished M.sc chemistry in 2012. Then I worked till november-2014 in R & D of chemical company. After that, I was preparing for government exam. I appeared for IELTS academic in April-2015 and got overall 6.5 band (R-7.0, L-6.5, S-6.5,W-6.0). I want to apply for manitoba student visa. From november-2014 , I didn't work as I was very confused for what to do further. So, I was preparing government exams but I couldn't get success. Now , I don't want to do job in private and want to move canada. My this gap (frm november-2014 to right now) will affect on getting study permit?..I want to apply for september-2017 intake. some consultancies are saying if I will apply for september-2017 then it will be 5 years study gap (in 2012 I completed M.sc). so you may get rejection as canada doesn't allow mre than 5 years study gap no matter you were working or non-working. Is this true? please help me as I don't want to get rejection and spoil my profile. I have read some posts here whom canada had given student visa though they had more than 5 years gap.

Is it necessary, to show salary account statemnt of past jobs? or offer letter and experience letter will work?

Can we show any training related to our field (without salary) during gap ?

Can we show true reason that I was preparing for government exam during gap but couldn't get success. Now I want to study further in my field to improve my skills. will it lead to rejection?

Please, help me guys. Your guidance will give me confidence to proceed further.

study gap may not be an issue but you do not say what study you are proposing related to your qualifications or work experience. It cannot be some random course to come to Canada but relevant to your past and future goals so what course do you have in mind.

Also just a comment better to create a fresh post than tag onto a 3 plus year old post PLUS posting in multiple posts will not get you more than one answer
