Further Medical Exams?!

Hi All,

My wife just received a letter from the Embassy of Canada Visa office asking her to undergo further medical tests. The letter came with a sealed envelope to be opened only by the same doctor who performed the first initial medicals. She has scheduled an examination next week, but I am curious why this request was made? In the cover letter it said a decision was made, and that these further medical tests were needed before a final decision could be sent to her. Furthermore it stated if the examination was not complete within 4 months her application would be rejected and a new one would need to be submitted. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Should we be excited or concerned? I guess I will have to wait till next week to see what kind of test she was asked to undergo.

I know what you are going through, my husband received the same sealed letter only to be opened by the doctor. In his case he had forgotten to sign for the release of his results to the visa office. On his cover letter they stated that his file could not be processed any further until they receive the feedback within 60 days. In most cases, its usually a medical furtherance and you will only know when the doc opens the letter..sorry. FYI spousal applications cannot be rejected due for medical reasons unless its something thats highly contagious and dangerous to the public i.e serious active TB, or they are on life support lool..just saying. So dont worry, its probably a minor thing. Good luck with that next week.

Thank you for the reassuring post. Turns out it's a bureaucratic thing more than anything else. I guess the quality of the xrays or something sent were not up to the standard and they have requested them to be re-done. Every letter that arrives in my opinion is a good sign, it means that at a minimum they are looking at our application and reviewing it, unlike some of those application shelf-life horror stories I keep reading in people's posts!
