Hi. I have a post-graduate work permit and I am working in Manitoba (NOC B) on a valid job offer. I wish to apply for express entry. Do I need to show funds in my account? If yes, then how much and for how long?

Assuming you truly have a valid job offer then no, no proof of funds are required.

Yes, I have this appointment letter that states my hourly pay and other things such as the number of hours/week, duties, responsibilities, long-term employment statement etc. I hope that qualify as a valid job offer. Any comments on that?

So the PGWP = Open work permit? and the jobs obtained while on the PGWP do not qualify for valid job offers? Sorry but I am confused a bit. So as per CIC, I need not show money in my account if I have 'valid job offer' but since I am doing a job based on my PGWP makes my job not 'valid'? and I need to show proof of funds?

You basically do not qualify for the points (50 or 200) given for having a valid job offer, what that also entails (if you are not a CEC applicant) is that you must show proof of funds.

If you are eligible under the CEC program then no POF will be required.

So let's say that I wait for a few more months until I complete my one year at the job and then apply via CEC based on this one year of Canadian job experience, then do I need to show POF? Please note that I'll still be on PGWP at the time of application.

No POF required in that situation.

Yes, I checked this. But my doubt is for how long should I maintain that required amount (in my case 12500CAD) in my account? Some say it should be there for 3 months, some say for 6 months. I'm confused.
You have to provide six months average balance, either mentioned in the letter or as 6 month bank statement. The only constraint here is that the large sum of money should not come out of nowhere in these 6 months. You need to provide proper explanation and proofs for the same. You can look at the following threads,

Also, it is not like you have to maintain the amount for so many months. For e.g, If you get money from your father as a gift and provide proof for the same in your LOE, then that money can even appear a day before you submit your application. It's just that every thing should be backed up with the respective documents and proofs.

Wow. Thanks for all the info. So basically I need to stay up front and try not to deceive the system in any way, which I don't think I would try to do in million years. Hehe.
