Full-time status concern

Hello everybody,

I am currently studying at York University in Toronto. So far, I've been taking 3-4 courses a term and thus stayed in full-time status.
However, this summer term I can only take 1 course relevant to my program of study. This would make me a part-time student for the summer term.

The regulation regarding Post graduation work permit is:
You must have studied full time in Canada and you must have completed a program of study that lasted at least eight months.
Does being part time in just one term make me ineligible for the PGWP program?
My university advisor told me that CIC only tolerates your being part-time in your very last term.
I am not planning to work, but I don't really want to overpay and take random courses just for the sake of being full-time all the time.

I am totally lost here. University advising gives me generic answers to concrete questions and I cannot contact CIC directly, as they don't have email, postal address or phone number that isn't a robot. ???

Summer term does not count as a normal academic term. So you don't have any problem.

Thanks for the reply. This is somewhat reassuring.
Are there any documents on cic.gc.ca on what is considered a "proper" academic term? It's just that I keep getting conflicting statements.

I can not find any info on this, but I was an International Student, and have never taken any summer courses. If Summer semester was a regular term, that should have put me out of status.

Also if you notice, the Total Tuition fees don't include Summer courses, cause those are optional.

I am having the same problem now. My program doesn't have a scheduled summer break. I'm taking 2 courses only - and there aren't more courses available this semester (that are relevany to my program).

Did you get the PGWP?
