Hi All,

I applied for FSWP 2014 under NOC 2132. My Visa processing office is New Delhi. I am travelling to US as part of my work, but my wife is going to stay here till mid april 2015. Now, what should I do if the New Delhi Visa office is going to ask for my Passport??. How should I submit it to them ?

You Can't. Put simply.

How long will you be in the US?

If you are still in the US and the PPR arrives - you cannot mail your passport because that is against the law in India. I am assuming you won't be too keen to travel back to India and stay there until the stamping completes.

So there are 2 options you have:

1 - You send the passport via a friend or a relative with a letter of authorization for them to carry it across border and submit to NDVO. This only makes sense if there is ALSO someone (friend, family) who is able to carry the passport BACK to the US before your departure date from the US.

2 - You send a letter to the NDVO with your proof , duration and address of stay in the US (H1B etc). You then request that the stamping be transferred to the relevant VO in the US. This step will only be feasible if you are staying for at-least 6 months or more in the US i believe. THIS STEP HAS BEEN TRIED AND TESTED BY ONE OF THE FORUM MEMBERS BTW.

Hi,
My length in the United States is going to be at least for a year (till September 15). Is there any guideline on the amount of time the passports will be kept by NDVO.
Regards,
Satish.

There is no guideline as far as i Know. If your request for Medicals and PPR come together (NDVO does it sometimes), then processing will be longer and vice versa.

Since you will be in the US for a Year - it all boils down to when your PPR arrives. Whenever it does, and you have at-least 45 days of stay remaining in the US, you could request NDVO to transfer your stamping to US. Obviously, this is only a recommendation. You may prefer a longer cushion.
