FSW vs CEC; How does a candidate gets mapped into either of these?

Dear All

I was in assumption that a candidate who meets the below conditions will be set into CEC Category:
1) with NOC 0, A or B work experience.
2) with Canadian work experience of 12 months in the recent 36 months.
3) meeting all other criteria of Education, Language, Age, work experience,etc.. as applicable for FSW.

My current status is that that I have been working:
1) for past 10 years outside Canada in NOC A.
2) in Canada since April 2016 -- which means I am short by 1 month to complete 12 months of Canadian experience in past 36 months.
3) in Canada on a Work Permit that expires in Feb 2018 -- which means I have less than a year of validity on the Work Permit.

I have been assigned 478 points in the CRS Tool, considering the above data (as well as Education and IELTS score of me and my spouse).

From the above it means that I am not eligible for CEC at this moment.
Neither can I use my current work permit as a JOB OFFER for Express Entry, since it is NOT VALID for more than 1 year (CIC site states that the JOB OFFER will be considered if it is valid for at least a year after the PR is issued).

If I have to go with FSW, I cannot use the JOB OFFER which doesn't have required validity of a year.
My concern is that I do not have sufficient fund for providing "Proof of Funds" in FSW category.

Please guide and advice me on what steps I should take to go with Express Entry?

thanks and regards
Sam

Hi all Express Entry Gurus

I have the same question.

How does one get tagged as FSW candidate or CEC candidate in their Express Entry Profile?
If an applicant has 1 year of Canadian work Experience in the recent 36 months, will he/she be set into CEC?
Or is there any other prerequisites that need to be met for falling into CEC?

Thank you in advance.

Regardless of the expiry date on your work permit, merely having a work permit is not what IRCC requires for having a "valid job offer."

It sounds like you WILL be eligible for CEC very soon. If you receive an invite under the FSW class, you can always decline until you meet the requirements for CEC. Your score is good, I don't think you will have any trouble getting a second invite.

But be careful - because the profile only uses mm/yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy, the "system" can think you are eligible before you actually are. You cannot accept an ITA before you meet the minimum eligibility criteria (e.g. at least one year of Canadian experience) - well, you can, but your application will be refused. So make sure you do not accept an ITA under the CEC class before you are eligible.

Hi jes_ON

Regarding the Job Offer, mine is a 2 year Work Permit in ICT which is exempt from LMIA which will expire on Feb 2018.
This satisfies all conditions except that that now it doesn't have 1 complete year left off its total tenure of 2 years.
Would this still suffice the Job Offer criteria?

If not the only other option is to move to CEC program.
Since there is no option available for me to select CEC while creating the Express Entry profile, my question is whether the category of my Express Entry profile will get set as CEC when I update my Canadian Experience to 1 year after I complete the 1 year Canadian experience?

thanks and regards

No, based on the info you have provided, you do not have a valid job offer, you have not "satisfied" the condition of having a written offer of (future) employment for at least one year after obtaining PR status. Did you look at the information at the link I provided?

If you qualify for both CEC and FSW, and receive an ITA, it will be for CEC by default.
