Gentlemen, Ladies,
I would appreciate your advice on how to apply for PR status. I am currently on an employer specific work permit under NOC Level A occupation. I have been working in Canada for 3 months and have just completed my probationary period with the employer (3 months time for us to check out each other and ensure that we want to work together for the long term). Now the employer, should I request, will be willing to go through the trouble of making a permanent employment offer so I can apply in FSW. My Work Permit is based on an approved LMO but the LMO has since expired (you have a few months to apply for a TWP and Visa using the LMO).
1. Will we need to request a new LMO? That took some 3-4 months last time and will add considerable amount of time in getting PR status
2. Should I go FSW route? According to website the Ottawa Pilot processing center is taking about 15 months to process FSW applications. I will have to have a valid work permit when I apply and when I get the VISA. So that means I am in trouble if I lose the job in at least next 15 months. I have about 17 months left on the Work Permit.
3. Should I Go CEC route? If I decide to wait another 9 months before applying, I will qualify for CEC as I will have 12 months of full time work experience in Canada. Plus, when I apply, I will not be dependent on the Employer or a valid work permit. i.e. Even if I do not get an extension on Work permit when it expires (not sure how difficult it is to get extension), I can leave the country (may be take a vacation) and then return when the PR application decision comes through.
Will appreciate your advice in this matter.
Thanks
