Hi peeps, everyone is talking about the 'occupations in demand' list which is yet to be published. But I wonder if anyone has any thoughts about how much experience would one need in a certain 'occupation in demand' to be eligible? My current occupation is indeed in a high-growth industry in Canada (well, anywhere in the world actually) but I only started working in early 2008 after I finished uni. Thats even less than a year !?!

If this is your first job, under the current rules you would not even have been allowed to apply (in the FSW, anyway), since they demand at least 1 year of full-time work experience. No one knows exactly what the new rules will be, but personally, I find it unlikely that Canada would begin to admit unexperienced people. :-/

So wait, keep working, and see what happens!

Well, I did have work experience in another field (although substantially different from my current occupation) which exceeded 12 months and thats why I was qualified to apply. I'm not sure if that occupation will or will not appear on the new list, but at the moment I do have something called AOR from the CIC.

I would like to pursue a career in my current field though if I get Canadian PR.
