Hello,
My brother-in-law applied for Canadian PR under FSW but his application was unfortunately rejected in July 2010 (due to his job description not matching NOC category he applied under) by Immigration office in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
In their initial assessment, this is what they've said:
"The fees that you have paid are refundable. You will receive a cheque within eight to twelve weeks at the address provided in your application".
In further correspondences from CIO (November 2010), they've indicated that the refund was issued on 12 August, 2010, but then indicated that the cheque is still outstanding, so they asked my brother-in-law to fill a "Undertaking and Indemnity Form to the PA" to re-issue the refund.
He submitted the required form to re-issue his application refund early in February and is still waiting for a refund (it has almost been 10 weeks now since the re-issue request was submitted).
Could anyone please suggest what should he do. He has tried to contact the local immigration office (Islamabad, Pakistan) but his recent query regarding "Undertaking and Indemnity Form to the PA" remains unanswered.
I live in Canada and we're wondering if there's a way for me to find out the status of their refund or receive the money on their behalf if they authorize me to do so (considering that postal system in Pakistan may (and is not) the best in the work and that the cheque could have been misplaced in the mail). Moreover, if they authorize me as a recipient of their refund, what would the process be?
Greatly appreciate your help.
Best Regards,
