Does anyone have any idea of the definition of ‘skilled worker’ according to CIC?
‘Worker’ also refers to factory employees or manual labourers. How do Chartered Accountants, Managers, Doctors and IT guys come under the category of ‘worker’?
Except for handful of Professional occupations like Chartered Accountants, Doctors and Managers a majority of job occupations listed by CIC are plumbers, crane operators, electricians, etc who can be classified in real-time as skilled workers because these categories does not require extensive education.
So, it could also be assumed that the ‘worker’ categories are given first and foremost preference and the ‘Professionals’ have been relegated as non-important since they are available in plenty within their own country. THIS COULD BE THE REASON FOR THE DELAY.
So, basically CIC should divide the occupations under Skilled worker category into two – one for ‘Workers’ and another for ‘Professionals’. This will give the applicants a clear picture for applying and to get rid of their tensions, frustrations and events that get triggered in lieu of these.
So, please use your own expertise and come to a conclusion as to whether you can be classified as ‘worker’ or ‘professional’.
The idea is not to raise any controversy, but give a thought on this also. Because, in this forum a lot of dust on CIC (for not meeting the 6-month promise) is raised only by applicants who can be classified as Professionals and not workers!!!
Best of Luck
