FSW Applicant , proof of fund issue

Hi everyone,

I need your help regarding FSW Application for 2014. I am currently in Canada as student.

For proof of fund I want to show a Fixed deposit in my fathers account with an affidavit saying that he is willing to give the fund to me. Will this work ?

My understanding is that those who are inside Canada and has a full time status, proof of fund is not an issue.
In addition, do you guys also think that because of proof of fund CIC can reject my application ? or before rejecting they will ask me show money in my account ?

The funds need to be yours and in your account. They can't be in your father's account - this won't be accepted.

Having full time status in Canada is not enough to avoid proof of funds. To avoid proof of funds, you must be applying for FSW through the arranged employment stream where you have a permanent job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer has obtained an approved LMIA. So if you apply as a student in Canada without arranged employment, it is mandatory you provide proof of funds.

If you send your application without proof of funds then it will be automatically rejected. No - CIC will not ask you for this information. They will just reject your application.

Thank you very much for your informative reply. I will now use my Canadian account to show funds. I browse the forum and I guess consensus here is that, one needs to take a bank certificate, a letter showing my account balance. But, can I withdraw the fund after getting the certificate ? Will CIC verify this from the bank ?

CIC will sometimes ask you to provide new proof of funds later (after the application is received and while the application is being processed). If the funds are no longer in the account - or if they see the funds suddenly being transferred back in - you can be refused for not having POF or because CIC may not believe the POF are yours. You need to maintain POF if your account while the application is being processed in case CIC asks for proof again.

Yes - this could very well be a problem. CIC may ask you to supply six months of bank statements to prove the funds are yours. If they see the funds being transferred in and out they may assume the funds aren't yours and refuse your application.

Hello Guys, I want to know that "proof of funds section" in the application requires a bank statement. How long the funds should have to be in the account before submitting an application. If someone put funds in the account two months before the application. Would that be OK ?
