FSW-2014 - Police Certificate -- Originals required at which later stage ?

With my current application I sent photocopies of expired (more than 3 months old of my current country of residence ) police certificates.

I did this because it was stated that in initial stage they were not mandatory.

Now question is after application and while im waiting for CIC to evaluate my application, should i initiate to acquire original and updated police certificates ? Since they will also take maybe 1-2 months to be ready ?

OR

Should i first wait for CIC to contact me and then initiate the acquisition ?

Please answer my question.
