Frustrated trying to Link our Application in Ontario

I am sorry but this is going to be a long post with several questions in it.

I have tried and tried to Link my Application,, you cant Call CIC for help, OMG acckk
Maybe im doing this wrong

We Mailed our Package for Spousal Sponsorship To CIC- Mississauga overnight post and was received by CIC on Feb 3rd 2017.. This past Sunday March 19th 2017 My wife who is my Sponsor received an email.. ill show you the top half of the letter without our personal info..

Is this the letter we use to LINK our Application,, I signed up and got the GC Key Then I signed into the page that Starts the process of LINKING your Application.. It Shows my Full name at the top of that page, BUT I tried several times using the Application number and UCI number that is at the top of the letter they sent my wife.. So can I do the Linking seeing I am the "PA" using the UCI and Application Number they included at the top of the letter they sent to my wife ? OR,
Does my Wife (sponsor) need a GC key and is she the one that has to link the application using this letter..


Is this THE letter showing that they received OUR Application Package ?? OR IS IT a Letter saying that HER application to SPONSOR ME (the PA) has been RECIEVED?? ..

We read that you Link after ""receiving the acknowledgement of receipt"" ,, Isn't that what we got in that letter that I pasted above ? Is this letter our "acknowledgement of receipt" ? ?


ONCE AGAIN WE NEVER GOT ANY THING STATING THEY RECIEVED OUR PACKAGE OTHER THEN THE LETTER I POSTED ABOVE..
SOMEONE PLEASE help us understand we are beyond Lost and frustrated !!!

I am the sponsor and I created the GC key and linked the account with my information and the uci & file number that was sent to me. Maybe your wife should create a new account and see if she is able to do it, or you do it just using her info and the numbers she was sent. You the applicant have not received any correspondence from them yet, it appears you are still persona non grata lol

Oh, but you know what, I think it takes a few days after they let you know they got your application before you can actually link it, so that could be the problem!

Thanks AGAIN,, your always so helpful.... Ill wait and try maybe thru,, if its a no go Ill use my Wifes Info,, She is Canadian so no application asked for her Passport Info,, which they ask for when filling in the questions on the Link page,, CAN I JUST Leave that blank ???

Are they talking about receiving the whole package of all the Applications and supporting Docs OR That her Application to Sponsor IMM1344 was received? It was all sent together at the same time!

What eventually worked for me (as well as many others) is the following:

3. Click box for place of birth as if you were going to enter something and hit the space bar once leaving the box blank
4. PA's country
5. Put the sponsor's address under where you will reside in Canada
6. Number of people - 2, the principal applicant and sponsor (this is assuming there are no children)

Leave everything else blank including passport info. It seems the less information you enter, the more successful you are likely to be. Unfortunately, it's a tricky thing and what works for some doesn't work for others. Good luck!

They have the entire package. The notice they sent stating that they are processing her application to sponsor is the AOR email. When she goes to e-CAS to check for sponsor approval (SA), just click on the principal applicant's (PA's) link on the other side and it will show that they've received your application as well.

Yeah, the number tends to vary. I tried using 1 for the longest time because my husband was the only one coming and it never worked for me, but it does work for others. It's too bad that such a straightforward thing should be so complicated.

Hi CanadianZenGirl, we have not gotten any notice that THEY ARE PROCESSING HER APPLICATION TO SPONSOR. The letter I posted in my post only said This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has [size=10pt]BEEN RECIEVED[/size] by Citizenship and Immigration Canada

.NOTHING ABOUT PROCESSING .. it says "Been Received" I think there must be a difference in Received and Processing.. But I can be wrong !

I went to the e-CAS web page and signed in, At the top of that page it says , Client Application Status , then below that is MY Full name and below that it shows our address and a link to UPDATE THIS HOME ADDRESS .. Down below that is another area that has my Name again and to the right of that it has a box for "Permanent Residence Application Status" that says APPLICATION RECIEVED.. if I click on that it says

1.We received your application for permanent residence on March 3, 2017.

There is NO where to click on anything that you said to click on .. no PA's link no nothing and says nothing about sponsors approval (SA).

Now all these things that I have been trying to do , I have been using MY Information (My name, my DOB, my place of birth) on the e-CAS site and on the Link application page I used all my info and my password info.. I have Not used any of my wife's information, Just that Application number that came on the letter they emailed to my wife.

My wife has not looked up or tried to look up anything she has NOT gone to the e-CAS site.. also She does not tried to Link our application so she does not have the GC Key to sign in with. ONLY I HAVE DONE THAT, DOES SHE need to do all that like I have ?

I am starting I am about as dumb as a box of rocks..

trikiliki thank you once again for TRYING to guide me along.. Being OLD like I am I think my mind is gone lolol.. I will try what you mentioned and create a new account using my Wifes Information and the Application # she was sent. That UCI number never seems to work lol

Okay, that was what I was referring to. You can see that they do have your application. Mine is a bit different because I am the sponsor, so it shows my husband's name and then the sponsorship application status and permanent residence application status beside that.

Regarding her application, I misread that, sorry. But they've let you know they have your package, so that's good, and hopefully you will hear something else soon. Your wife should sign into e-CAS and see if they have started processing her application yet.

The only thing you might see in ECAS thus far is that your application is received. If you log into ECAS with the same uci and file number but using your wife's name and birthday and country, it should show both sides, sponsor and applicant and that they have received the application to sponsor and possibly that they sent her correspondence on March 3rd. Don't worry its very early in the process right now there wont be anything else in there until sponsor approval.

For linking your app in CIC, try to follow the instructions that CanadianZenGirl was nice enough to provide, trying either 1 or 2 for the number of people in the application, leaving the passport number blank, and entering just a space for the place of birth. Literally everyone has a hard time doing this and never hits it on the first attempt. Welcome to the club

Ok so I made my wife an account with the GCkey thing and then Tried to link an application following CanadianZenGirl directions.. on 4 attempts I failed and tried again,, On the 5th time I got a page that has my wife's full name across the top and says (( account)) at the end of her name.
Below that it has a Notification Area
then a WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO TODAY area.. (which is where you go to link an application )

Then further down the page are 2 areas, 1st one says
"Continue my profile / application, not yet submitted"
No Data in Table
then area below that says
"View my submitted applications or profiles"
No data in Table

then near the bottom of the page it says

ACCOUNT MESSAGES

For messages about your application/profile, see "check status and messages" under the "submitted applications or profiles" section. Note: The "submitted applications or profiles" section appears only if you have submitted an application or profile.

You have no messages.

SOOOOOOOOOOO what is this and does it mean she has successfully Linked up.
That message does say THAT SUBMITTED APPLICATION OR PROFILES SECTION APPEARS ONLY IF YOU HAVE SUBNITTED AN APPLICATION.... and as you see that section shows up..

I thought there would be links to upload stuff and whatever,, so I hope we are linked..
SOMEONE PLZ SAY WE ARE so I can have a celebration lol

IF this has us Linked where do you go to Upload any forms they need such as that
Form Schedule A – Background/Declaration (IMM 5669).. this has to be done within 30 days,, but how do you upload it ???

I have always used the IRCC Webform (Case Specific Enquiry) for sending files to them. Though they have never asked us to use myCIC to do this. At your own risk, you can try: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx . I can confirm, it does still work, and they can still attach the files you send (attach at the end) to your case.

I see the area along the left side of the page for "Applicant Information" .. QUESTION ? Is this my information the PA or my wife who is my sponsor ???

You click submit, and the very next page will ask if you have any files to attach... Applicant info.

We submitted the older (2016) package. Schedule A and everything was all sent via mail to CPC-M. So I cannot comment.
