Hi all,

First of all I would like to wish all of you success in your applications and starting your new lives.

We are also interested in the skilled migration to Canada. I'm curious if there are other people from Holland here who made the move and what they think of it. We both find that in recent years Holland is changing fast - and not for the better. We started looking around for other options, naturally we thought of Canada.

My target is to assess whether Canada is the right place for our way of thinking and living, and how it compares to where we live now.

A little bit about us : we are both in our mid 30's without kids or pets, both professionally trained in aviation (partner) and engineering (myself). We find our ideal way of living in the combination of nature and open spaces you get when you live outside the city, with the availability of modern technology when you're not too far out.

If there's anyone here who is willing to share their experience of moving from Europe to Canada - We'd love to hear it !!

Ghohoef,
wat's up? I don't seem to understand the language u are using. Please be more explicit (i.e in English) the next time you send messages for the benefit of others.

Thanks

He is writing in Dutch to a fellow Dutch speaker asking him to email him directly if he likes for more discussion. Nothing wrong with that!

Fathertee, ik kom niet uit Europa maar ik denk dat er een gemeenschap van Nederlandstalige mensen in Manitoba bestaat. Ik denk dat de meerderheid van hen een Vlaamse oorspong heeft?

Hello links18,

Just wanted what was best for everybody in the forum. I did not say what he wrote was bad. I still do not know what you wrote on the last paragraph.

Regards.

Fathertee,

I am not from Europe, but I am a little bit literate in Dutch, and I thought this might help.

From,
Libra.

Here is a fair translation of what Ghohoef sent on June 6th:

Hello Lee,

Sorry I missed your message. I have arrived since 23 April (with my wife and two kids) in Beautiful Vancouver. It pleases us, sticking out so far. I am no immigration specialist but I will try to help you since you already ask, well, an almost possible question to answer. Here my private address is (if you would find this easier) ghohoef@gmail.com

Greetings,
Gerrit

Here is a fair translation of the last paragraph from the message sent by links18 on June 6th:

Fathertee, I do not come from Europe but I think that there is a community of Netherlands people who live in Manitoba. I think that the majority of them have Flemish origin?

Hi, don't know if its useful to you but here is a site about bringing (Dutch) truck drivers to Canada, has Dutch links (and contacts in the Netherlands from memory)
http://www.canadatruckingjobs.ca/

as for other details, am not qualified to comment on job prospects ect, but Id guess there would be plenty of countryside to go around compared to Netherlands, for sure, and some rural land is amazingly cheap. Use this site to sound out the Real estate market for the areas U R thinking of. http://www.mls.ca/index.aspx

Good luck to you

Scott

The following is auto translated by babel fish explicitly to bug farthertee, do not reply in Dutch, I dont speak it lol

Oh my goodness, you guys just took that whole post and twisted all up for no reason. I think they wanted to know if someone here has had any experience in migration from holland to Canada and what was the experience like.
