I have a few examples........If somebody have 66 scores and additionally have claimed the basic proficency in French with out TEF. Normally the immigration officers accepts that for bonus one mark to meet the criteria and Secondly in some cases they have even recomended the people who are less with one mark difference to take 2 or three months IELTS cource from Alliance Francaise to meet the 67. This is what i experienced in my institute and even my teachers told me the same. What is your opinion on this ?

Hello Hot-Lier ;

It all may depend on the IO during IA. For me, I applied for Quebec PR, where French has got the priority. I am a native Bangladeshi but studied , stayed and worked for more than 6 years in Switzerland (based in French speaking regions). I neither did my IELTS/TOEFL, nor any TEF/Alliance Française courses. Just regular educational certificates and transcripts. However, I scored full points in both the languages during my interview in Hong Kong. Off course, I was 100% sure of my language capability.

Thank you.

Not everybody gets called for an interview. Peoples experience with submitting proof without IELTS or TEF has been that it totally depends on the visa officer. Some have been awarded 8 points for English when they claimed 16. Some have been awarded none. Some have had their applications denied because the visa officer did not give them enough language points to pass 67. If you don't want your future depending on if the visa officer is in a good mood or not, you should take the IELTS and TEF. CIC recommends that you do take the IELTS and TEF unless your mother tongue is English or French. If you would rather submit other proof, you do so at your own risk.

Dear Leon;

I have no good reason to disagree with you. There are always exceptional cases. I just mentioned because Hot-Lier was desperately trying to earn points from his French Course.

It's up to him if he takes the TEF or not but his French course will definitely help him get a better score :)

Hi. My case is almost similar to those discussed previously. I have done all my post secondary studies in french language. Also, i have worked in a french calling center for more 8 month where i used to solve technical problems to french people, which requires a high french level.

I have all the certificates to proof that. Do i have to take the TEF?

Read the above posts. CIC recommends you take IELTS/TEF to prove your points unless English/French is your mother tongue. If you choose to provide other documentation instead, you put it in the hands of the visa officer how many points they choose to give you. It's your decision and your risk to take if you choose not to take TEF.

HI,

How long does it take to learn Basic French course at French Alliance? Some people told me around two year.
And is it easy to pass TEF exam after covering level-3?

See From Nova Scotia Sydney my case has been approved recently and i have only 120 days to submit full application.

Now If i take two months basic french class from French Alliance and get certificate would that certificate be enough to send with IELTS result to Islamabad along with my full permanent residence application?

Is there any chance that CIC Islamabad would ask me TEF exam later?

I dont want to withdrawl my case. What should i do now?
