Hello,

This is a peculiar situation, as I have searched previous posts and found no answer directly related to this.
I am a freelance Translator, I have worked consistently with International organizations for the past 8 years, I get called by ECOWAS Commission (Economic Community of West African States) to service meetings as a Conference Translator on freelance contract at least once every month. The contracts are issued based on the duration of meetings, which range from 3 to 10 days in a month. For every meeting a freelance contract is issued, showing the number of meeting days, honorarium/fees and allowances that accrue for the period of the meeting. I also work for the UN on freelance basis once every year (about 5 to 7 day meetings). I also receive translation jobs by email, which I work on at home and send via the internet.

Are freelance translators eligible to apply under standard skilled worker class? I can't afford the funds for self-employed class. How does a freelance Translator show proof of relevant work experience when applying for Quebec Selection Certificate? Translation is one of the eligible Areas of Training (NOC 5125). ECOWAS is willing to give me a letter stating that I have worked with them consistently as freelance translator for several years.

I have gathered all other documents, do I stand a chance of being selected? Do I have other alternatives for moving to Canada without already having a job offer in Canada?

Please your prompt responses will be appreciated. I want to send in my application before Quebec comes up with new rules.
