Hey guys and gals,

So here’s my situation. I’m an electrician and I’m currently in the process of applying for express entry. Of my first years experience, I spent 9 months working for one employer before leaving him before Christmas. It’s a small company and even though I was courteous and gave him 2 weeks notice, he took it badly. He’s refusing to answer my calls and texts so I basically have zero chance of getting the reference letter from him. It’s a small company and there’s no HR department so he’s the only one that can provide it. Does anyone know of any alternatives? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Print your reference letter on a plain paper and get is signed from your colleague. Mention this in LOE. Simple.

just for your information, for Express entry, you should have 12 months of continuous experience in one company. This is mandatory.

Both jobs are under the same NOC code so my 12 months is good.

NO, it should be from same employer and for consecutive 12 months.

What about in terms of CEC? As of my understanding, fill-time working experience does not need to be countinous 1 year for CEC, but for FSW, yes it has to be countinous.

I obviously don’t know much about the process, since I’m here asking these questions in the first place, but I’m fairly certain you are wrong. I’ve had friends who are tradesmen who have switched companies and still get through. Can you please provide a link to back up what you’re saying?

That is correct. This condition dose not apply to CEC.
