Form Error

Hi,

My wife and I recently filled in and sent out the application forms to the Mississauga office. I just received notification that I have been approved as the sponsor and the forms are on their way now to the Sydney office. However, I just noticed something that I just plain overlooked.

In Section C of the Application to Sponsor and Undertaking, I filled out my wife's name (she's the permanent residence applicant) as her maiden name instead of her now official married name. She had the married name the entire time we were completing our forms, it was just an awful oversight on my part, despite all the care and attention I put into the whole process. In the Sponsorship Agreement form she is listed correctly as her married name, as well as all of her permanent residence forms she filled out. Her maiden name is listed as a former name on her Schedule 1 form.

On the e-cas website it lists the Sponsored Person as her maiden name. I am just beside myself with embarrassment on this matter. Do you feel this will affect my wife's application process in any way? As I mentioned, I have already been approved as a sponsor and it was on just one of the sponsor forms that I made the error, as the rest of the forms are all correct.

Thank you for any info you can provide.

it will not affect ur file in any way , you have already been approved plus the immigrant officers are acquainted with mistakes like this and believe if this mistake was a problem they would never have approved the file , dont worry and good luck

Your wife's name on the application is supposed to be the same as what is on her passport or travel documents - so if her maiden name was on her passport at the time you filed the aps, they should be filled out with that name. If she had already changed her passport to her married name, the applications should be filled out with her married name. Either way it probably doesn't matter a whole lot if you included a copy of your marriage licence, which should show both names anyway.

However, this advice doesn't make sense

Your having been approved as the sponsor has nothing at all to do with the applications your wife has filled out for Permanent Residence, and those are the ones where her name is supposed to be the same as on her travel documents/passport.

yes Robsluv this advice matters:

you turn around and you come to the anwser that this will not matter as long as her application is approved .
