Hi, I'm filling in the sponsorship forms to sponsor my spouse from outside Canada. I have a question regarding form 5540 (Sponsor Questionnaire) Q 10. "Were you yourself sponsored to come to Canada."
Here is my situation: I came to Canada in 2007 on an immigrant visa along with my parents who had applied for the family under the skilled immigrant program. So do I check 'yes' or 'no'?

- Also for Q 8 "What countries have you resided in" ---> Do I have to provide the info for all countries I lived in before migrating to Canada or is it only for the places I lived in after turning 18? I went to university in USA from 2001 to 2007 and before that I grew up in the UAE.
Please advise.

No, you were not sponsored. You came in as a dependent child of your parents at the same time as they applied. If they had left you behind and sponsored you later, you would have been sponsored.

It doesn't actually say in the question whether it is after age 18 or since forever so include them all.

Thanks for the clarification Leon and Canadianwoman! Appreciate the response

I have another quick clarification: My wife did apply for a canadian student visa almost 2 yrs backs but it got refused as they thought she had many relatives here and would not return (She has 2 aunts and an elder brother living here in canada). But now while filing the sponsorship docs, I did mention that she applied for a student visa and the file info.
Do I need to provide any further details as I am hoping that this spousal sponsorship won't be affected by that past refusal as that was the only time she applied for a canadian visa. Please advise!

it will have no effect.Just attach the notes from the visa office of the refusal so they see it was just to do with her family being here.It just jelps so they dont have to go searching for the reason.
