Form 5406 - Physically present at marriage ?

I was reading the instruction guide for form 5406 and it says that for each applicant, he or she must write if he and his spouse were physically present at their marriage. In marital status column, it asks to write "Married-Physically Present" or "Married-Not Physically present". Has anyone filled it like this. The instructions on form do not say this but instruction guide say this.
This seems very strange and the marital status column doesn't even have enough space to write this.
Can anyone advise. Thank you!

I could be wrong, but I think it's because they used to allow proxy marriages but no longer do.

Proxy, telephone, fax, internet and similar forms of marriage where one or both parties were not physically present are no longer considered as valid spousal relationships under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. For more information, consult Operational Bulletin 613.

oh, they got rid of that finally. It was always a big red flag to begin with. I guess they just decided to do away with it completely.

Thank you folks for the quick replies. Really appreciate it. So you do advise putting "Married-Physically Present" as the status ? The problem is that there is not enough space in the column so I am writing "Married- Phy Pres"....hopefully that will not lead to any confusions..any advise ?

You can write "married", then after printing the form, add "physically present" with a pen.

You are replying on very old thread, with a question that isn't really the same as the thread topic.

Maybe start a new topic if you have questions.

If you are applying common law you obviously dont have to provide info about a marriage. Make sure you are following the correct checklist and using the most up-to-date forms.
