Also grandmom is a triple cerebral stroke survivor and prefers to stay with friend's wife, as my friend's India address is in Bangalore which has more pleasant weather than grandmom's other residence in Calcutta

@Bryanna
Kindly suggest whether my friend should prepare to invest 100 CAD for a significant possibility that his wife's tourist visa can be approved, stay will be 1-2 months.., my friend is a minimum wage worker

Ans 1.

No, grandmom only stays with friend's wife

Ans 2.

My friend wanted to research earlier before preparing to apply for spousal sponsorship and tourist visa for his wife
The chances of a TRV approval are slim in the case of applicants who have Canadian spouses. It is not impossible to be granted TRVs without having a spousal PR application, but quite difficult.

Caregivers/facilities to take care of persons in need of care are easily available in India and also not expensive. After marrying your friend, it is assumed that his wife will move to Canada without her grandmom. It will also be presumed that she will apply for PR via the inland process.

Your friend's wife would need to prove a whole bunch of other strong ties to return to India. Taking care of her grandmom must not the only reason

His income won't matter for a spousal PR application. But, for a TRV, I would suggest saving the CAD 100. Don't apply if the grandmom is the only reason to return to India

@Bryanna ,

Hi,

If my friend's wife applies a tourist visa for the sake of tourism purposes only and she does not disclose that her husband is a Canadian PR, she will apply like a tourist with just the intention of visiting Canada, will this approach help??

Also even if my friend's wife clearly declares the intention of just visiting her husband temporarily, if at all she must declare that her husband is a Canadian PR, she can also declare that till an alternative caregiver facility is arranged for her grandmother, she will not apply for spousal sponsorship as principal applicant and only after her grandmother is fixed with an alternative caregiver, she will apply for spousal sponsorship - outland, the above declaration can be legally notarized..

Apologies for the lengthy post, kindly advise

@Bryanna ,

My friend's wife is also working as a preschool teacher in Bangalore, India
along with serving her caregiver responsibilities towards her grandmother, so will these 2 reasons suffice for return to India in the context of her tourist visa application, kindly suggest

I still believe she does not have a strong application. IMO, it would be best to start the spousal PR process
