Hi,

I have this question for people who lived in MiddleEast/Arab countries, what is average background check time that you heard of?
The reason that I am asking is that they started doing background check on my wife who lived in MiddleEast/Arab country. And I know that the time it takes to do background check is different for each person.

However, I noticed that for example, in some cases, for MEN in Egypt, it took about less than 2 months from AOR date until the PP Request. So it means that the background check was done in less than two months, since I think they send the file to background check after the AOR date.

Since in our case, my spouse is a woman, and I thought it on average the background check for women who lived in MiddleEast/Arab countries should be less than two months. My logic is that if it takes some MEN in Arab countries two months to finish their background check, then for my wife it should take less that since women are not usually trouble makers :)

I also heard from a lady from Lebanon here on this website, that it took her about 2 months or less to finish her background check.

Do you have any data or know of any cases for women, on how much it took the Canadian government to finish the background check?

Thanks

Hi Yusuf,

My wife lived in Dubai. So I am thinking the background check should be about 2 months. Please let me know if you have any info on this from this site.

thanks,

Ashraf

I hope that the background check will be completed soon.

Does anyone know how much it takes (on average) the Canadian government to finish the background check?

Thanks

Hi Simpleman,

Unfortunately, every case is different so it's difficult to tell how long a background check may take. The files are sent to CSIS and it's in their hand from that point on. The average times range from 2 to 20 months.

My husband is from North Africa and his has been going on much longer than the expected 2 - 20 months. Most likely that is due to the fact that he lived in a number of different countries.

If your wife has not lived outside of her home country and hasn't done a whole lot of travelling to random countries, your likely just in for the 2 months.

Good luck and let us know when it completes!

the process of immigration is very wierd and complicated..... i am saying this coz no 2 cases even if in the same visa office, can be expected to have the same time lines or procedures. Yes it does depend on the number of countries that the applicant has lived in for more than 6 months (the number of PCC that one submits along with the application)

living in a country that is not the home country will not (should not) make much of difference. Same time, if the applicant has travelled to many places for short trips, it would not really matter. I am saying this purely based on logic as one cannot really trace all details of every trip that a person makes. Then it would take ages for almost all applications as in the current times, travelling is a very common thing amongst lot of people.

I think (its purely my assumption) that if an applicant has about 2 PCC's it should take around 4-5 months max (considering 2 months per country) to be on the safe side.... that is taking max time limit for back ground checks. Also what matters is the response that the inquiry would get from the other country. from what i have noticed, countries like kuwait and saudi are slow in responding to queries or documentation and hence the applicants having any links to those countries tend to have longer processing timeline......

of course this is purely based on my assumption and what i have noticed in the forums from the posts of other applicants.

answering your question simpleman, since your wife has lived in 2 countries - UAE and another country it should at max take about 4 months to finish the entire process and to get the PPR. I too am in dubai and have PCC of 2 countries - UAE and India and i am hoping that my backround checks should be done in 4 months or so from AOR as i have already passed the 2 months mark.

hope the visa comes through fast.
god bless us all

keep us posted .....
