Hi, I have my Live In Caregiver (a Philipino from Hongkong)who just used me to come here to Canada. She was very sweet and loving while talking over the phone and for 1 week when she entered our house.. then her true colors started to show.. She is here for for 1 month 10 days and already given her notice to leave. She has nothing against us or children just that she is doesnt want to stay in our house. She will not say why or use any help offered just that she wants to go to another house. She paid her friend in thousands who helped her to come here. Surprisingly, I came to know that now. Isnt that Illegal?
What should I do? I waited for 7 months , paid all her transport, pay and now she says she wants to go. What am I do for the children. Back to square of finding day home , day care .. struggle..Wished I didnt bring this one or get this exp.. She has set her plan carefully. A house to stay and all facilities ready for her. How convenient of people to bait others..Is there any place for me to give my concern and ask help. This is really disheartening using one person to come and get off quickly. ... Mothers and Fathers be careful.. this is like SCAM (use you and throw u) .. if anyone coming from that part of the world...trust your intution..

Dear calgary.emp,
it's not quite clear that has really happened.
You've employed a caregiver from abroad and arranged all the visa/arrival formalities at your own expence, is that correct? In that case there must be a legal contract between you and this lady where all the terms and conditions are stated. If she's breaching the terms of a contract you can file a lawsuit and claim the compensation. You only need to consult a local lawyer rather than forum.
Finding a domestic helper who'd totally fit in you family is a tough task. It's only this time you haven't been that lucky. Cheer up and keep looking!
