For a step-child, is it a must to include in the application/Additional Family?

Hi Friends,

I would like to ask if it is compulsory to include a step-child in the application? The child is living with his mom and there is no plan of getting the child to live in Canada in the future. Will it be a misrepresentation if he will not be reflected in the Additional Family Information form?

Yes- even if you don't have any plans of supporting the child, or of the child following you into Canada later, you must mention the child in the form. Not mentioning the child in the application will amount to misrepresentation.

Thank you for your reply Aragorn165! Would you have any idea if there would be any requirement or any document to be required from the mother of the child?

I'm sorry, I don't know, since I am applying as a single applicant.
I would wait for other forum seniors and members to come in and chip in :)

you need to mention him.

depending of whose step child he is ( principal aplicant's or dependant's ) you might need to get medical for him as well.

you have to consider that the "child" will not forrever be a child, and no one can predict if he will at some point want to join his biological parent in canada.
