Pre-Assessed..
Hello folks,

My hometown, where my parents live, is right across the border from Detroit (Windsor, Ontario). We thought about flying into Toronto to complete the landing process once PR is approved, however, this then leaves a 4 hour drive down to Windsor! It would make sense to fly to Detroit and then complete the landing process in Windsor once we cross the border as it's only about 40 minutes to my parents' house from the airport. However, I am worried the US immigration officer will be a pain in the arse as they always are to h2b! Everytime he has flown to visit, they are rude and keep saying he should fly to Toronto as that is Canada and he is now in America, etc...and give him a bit of a hard time! We fly to Detroit and cross the border to Canada because of convenience, it is WAY closer and saves on petrol and easier for my folks to come collect us!

Does anyone have any experience of this? What were the immigration officers like when you said you were coming to land as a PR to Canada?

Thanks!

With the visa in his passport, I don't think they will give him a hard time. And even if they do get annoying, I can't imagine they would actually send him back or anything. But I've no personal experience of this sort, I never had any trouble with any immigration officer and always found them to be decent enough, in the US as well as Canada.

I always flew into Detroit (as my husband also lives over the border just outside Windsor) and I never had any problems with US immigration coming and going every 8 weeks for more than 2 years. I've applied inland though so I won't have to fly in to 'land'.
