Fly to Calgary, transit at Vancouver

Hi guys,

I've just got my passport back with CoPR and I'm planning to fly from Auckland to Calgary, transit at Vancouver International Airport. The flight from Auckland to Vancouver is operated by Air New Zealand and the flight from Vancouver is operated by Air Canada. My question is: will the landing procedure for new immigrants be done at Vancouver airport or Calgary airport? If the procedure will be done at Vancouver Airport, do I need to collect my luggages and present them to the officers at the counter?
I really appreciate any help you can provide.

You will complete immigration formalities at the first port of entry, Vancouver so should allow at least 2-3 hours between connections. Difficult to estimate given of course depends on time of day how busy immigration is but sure others will comment as well.

I have never connected at Vancouver but usually for international to domestic connections you would collect luggage then clear customs before dropping luggage off at a connections desk for the domestic flight.
